About El Carizal

Arriba Verde is an eco-community that has evolved as an extension of the Earthship Community at Casa Llanta. This community of home lots is located 6.6 kilometers south of San Juan del Sur, Nicaragua’s primary surf tourist destination and real estate hot spot.

Arriba Verde offers ocean view lots sized approximately 1-2 acres each for prices starting as low as $40k. The community is completely off-grid meaning that individual lot owners are all dedicated to utilizing alternative energy systems to capture and use their own energy. Current lot owners are deciding between Earthships, bamboo houses, yurts and pre-fabricated housing options made of renewable materials. Included with each lot purchase at Arriba Verde, owners will receive a complete Due Diligence Assessment of their lot from the in-house LEED Accredited Professional Engineer for determination of the optimum building pad location and orientation to minimize site disturbance and maximize solar and wind harvesting, enabling lot-owners to construct the smartest custom designed eco-home possible.

The goal within this housing project is to create a community of homes that are both self-sufficient and sustainable, while connecting with and supporting the local community of El Carizal. The Earthship at Casa Llanta, currently functions as a learning center hosting demonstrations on recycling and organic farming. The direction of relief efforts continues to grow organically based upon the needs
of the locals and the skill set of the community members and volunteers who join the team both short and long term.
